Last weekend, our boys and girls touch football teams coached by Mr Blenkin and Mrs Breakspear entered the Queensland Primary All Schools Touch Football Competition. The carnival was held at the Cleveland Showgrounds and saw a record number of 156 teams entered.
On Saturday, both teams played three grading games and came up against some fierce competition. All players made big improvements in each game and it was great to see the cooperation and teamwork flourish as the day went on. We returned on Sunday, with both teams winning their quarterfinals convincingly, moving them through to the semis. Although our boys put in a great effort and played together brilliantly, they lost the semi-final 4 - 3.  I was most proud of the sportsmanship displayed by these boys and the way they composed themselves even when refereeing decisions were not in their favour and potentially could have been. Well done boys a fantastic achievement!
Our girls ended up winning their semi-final 3 - 1 in very hot and difficult conditions moving them through to the finals. Although they lost the final 3-1, they gave it their all and should be extremely proud. Their positivity and teamwork throughout the carnival was amazing!
To put these results into perspective, out of 49 boys teams, only 16 made it to a semi-final and of the 55 girls teams, only 8 made it to a final! This is a fantastic achievement.
Congratulations on a great carnival and for representing your school and families so well.
