This term we have quite a lot happening.
Later on this term we will be using Catholic Social Teachings to guide some fundraising work for Mission Week. This year Christ the King Feast Day is celebrated on Sunday the 24th of November. We will have a whole school mass and a range of celebratory activities happening on Friday the 22nd of November as well as the presentation of our Spirit of Christ the King Awards. At the feast day on Sunday the 24th, we will be holding a school and parish mass followed by a cultural celebration in our undercover area. Keep this date in your calendars. This year we will have community Christmas Carols and a BBQ as our end of year celebration. This celebration will be held on the evening of Friday the 29th of November. It will be a great opportunity to bring your families down, have a BBQ picnic and join in with the kids as they perform Christmas Carols and poems. More details of all these events will come out in the coming weeks.Last term Sarah McDonald and myself met with Fr David, Fr Brian and the leadership team at St Eugene College. The purpose of this meeting was to look at ways we can strengthen the Catholic identities of our schools, as well as the links between the Church and the two schools in our parish. From this meeting, we’ve decided to trial a celebration of new babies in our school families with a baby blessing at Friday morning assembly. This will be a great opportunity to introduce new babies to our school community and show our Catholic faith with a small blessing. Fr Brian will involve the students in the blessing in a similar way to Friday morning prayer. The first blessing will take place at Friday morning assembly this week where the students and Fr Brian will bless my new baby, Vivian! If there are any families who would like to have their babies blessed, please contact Kim in the office or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
